Prospectus

We firmly believe that school and family working closely together will give your child the very best educational opportunities. Therefore we hope that parents who choose to send their child to Lyncrest will become involved in the school community and will support their child’s learning and enjoy the family ethos.

We are the only local school which has a nursery class and then one class in each year group to enable your child to have the very best education in a small traditional school, usually found in a village.

Parents can access our Prospectus as a downloadable file from the Key Files area on the side of this page.

Ofsted

A copy of our most recent Ofsted report about the school, published by her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Education, Children's Services and Skills can be found here or by using the Key Weblinks section on the side of this page.

We also provide a link to the Oftsed Data Dashboard. This complements the Ofsted inspection report by providing a summary of results data over a three year period and offers comparisons to other schools or providers.

Furthermore, we provide a link to Ofsted Parent View which gives you the chance to tell us what you think about our school. Parent View asks for your opinion on 12 aspects of your child's school, from the quality of teaching, to dealing with bullying and poor behaviour.

Key Stage 2 Results & School Performance Tables

Our local report on performance of Key Stage 1 and 2 results for the previous academic year is available as a downloadable file from the Key Files area on the side of this page. You can also access the School Performance Tables by following this link https://www.gov.uk/school-performance-tables.

School Curriculum

The government introduced a new National Curriculum in September 2014. The aim was to raise standards throughout the country. We are embracing this at Lyncrest Primary School and would like to give you an overview of our New Lyncrest Curriculum.

A breakdown of our curriculum, across the whole school, including details of the reading and phonics schemes employed in Key Stage 1 is available as a downloadable file from the Key Files area on the side of this page.

Pupil Behaviour

Our most recent Behaviour & Discipline Policy is available as a downloadable file from the Key Files area on the side of this page.

School Uniform

We take a pride in the smart appearance of our pupils. The school colours are red and grey and we expect school uniform to be worn. This consists of a red cardigan or sweatshirt and a grey skirt or trousers, polo shirts (which can be red or white) and black school shoes. Red and white summer dresses may also be worn.

Items with the school badge are available from The School Wear Shop but uniform without the school logo is allowed, and this is available from many stores in the town.

The PE kit consists of red shorts, white polo shirt and training shoes. A tracksuit is required for our regular outdoor P.E lessons (preferably navy). Training shoes will be worn for all PE lessons- no lessons will be in bare feet.

We ask that the children have a red book bag with the school logo and a red drawstring PE bag with the logo. These are both availabe from the schoolwear shop and are one off purchases as should last for the duration of their time at Lyncrest.

Inclusion Quality Mark

In the academic year 2019-2020, we successfully retained the Inclusion Quality Mark at Flagship level for the third consecutive time. This is the highest achievement within the IQM award scheme. This recognition is testament to the hard work of the entire school community and reflects the hard work, dedication and commitment to the learning, safety and well-being of all children who attend Lyncrest Primary School.

During the review in 2022, the assessor stated, "From the beginning of the school day a purposeful atmosphere of children learning pervaded the school. It was clear that the skilful support team were well prepared and confident in their delivery."
